Senior Alert Messenger (SAM)

When it comes to hurricanes, storms and other unforeseen events, preparation is power. Our senior population can be particularly vulnerable during times of disaster and are usually the ones most affected. That's why you should know about SAM!

The Senior Alert Messenger (SAM) is a program to keep our seniors informed before, during, and after a disaster threatens our area. SAM is an automated phone-calling system that will deliver timely messages to seniors registered in the program. The message will contain information about alerts, important preparedness information, and vital safety and resource information after the disaster passes.

SAM will also respond to requests for additional information within 24 hours. Via! Solutions staff and trained SAM volunteers will make follow-up calls and appropriate referrals. Seniors over the age of 55 qualify for the program, but you must be registered!
