A wide variety of programs, courses,
and activities are offered. Monthly calendars list

Health screenings will be offered monthly at the clinic including blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol, as well as other screenings. See 'Calendar of Events' for dates and times.
Homemaker Program
Need emergency assistance homemaker service? Give us a call for
an assessment. Our homemaker service provides one (1) hour a
week of light housekeeping to qualified persons.
Adult Health Education and Recreation
Health Education and Recreational programs provided for six Mobile
Housing Board communities.
Local health care providers can call for information on
how to be involved in Via! Services. For more information or

Adult Health and Development Program (AHDP) older adults
and college students meet weekly to learn skills and engage
in activities that promote lifelong health and physical
fitness. Transportation from the Center is provided.
Intergenerational activities are a great way to give back to the
community and enhance your well-being. It is the shared knowledge,
skills, and experiences among the generations that build and strengthen
communities. Come share your wisdom and create friendships through
our intergenerational programs. Call our Director of Outreach
for more details.
Monthly “Wellness Wednesday” programs,
a fall Wellness
Fair each year.
Wellness Center offers preventive health screenings and
programs on various health/wellness topics are offered
at the Center and other locations throughout the community.
Brochures and videotapes on health issues such as hypertension,
stroke, Alzheimer's disease, heart disease, exercise, safety,
sleep problems, etc. are available. A Registered
Nurse is available to speak with you about health concerns.
Purpose
The purchase of food and shelter for older adultsin need, to supplement
and extend current available resources.
**NO FEE MAY BE CHARGED FOR ASSISTANCE**
Must be age 55 or over. Must be experiencing an urgent need. Must
call 470-5226 to make an appointment. Must provide required documentation.
May receive food from the food pantry up to 4 times per year or
while supplies last. Proof of income is required and proper paper
work must be completed.
Emergency metered utility assistance (gas, electric, water and
sewer) limited to one month's cost in a 12-month period per family.
Bill must be in arrears and all other resources must be exhausted.
Assistance must guarantee additional 30-day service. Copy of
past-due bill, proof of income, and pictured ID is required.

Via! Grandfriends - an Adult Day Program is a supervised
activity program for special needs adults over 50 years
old. Daily activities are designed to help promote and
enhance each participant's emotional, physical and mental
well-being.
Activities may include:
Sittercize, Ceramics, Hymn Sing-A-Long, Pet Visits, Table Games
and Seasonal Activities
Each year the program celebrates Mardi Gras with style
by hosting its own Crewe of Grandfriends Mardi Gras Parade
and Ball. Our participants look especially festive as they
participate in the activities.
It operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
A registered nurse supervises the program staffed with Certified
Nursing Assistants, Senior Companions and volunteers.
Area college students also volunteer throughout the year providing
ample opportunities for intergenerational activities.
The application process includes an application fee and
a one-year membership to Via!, the Arlene F. Mitchell Campus. After an individual
is accepted in the program, there is a daily fee, which includes: breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, ceramics class and most supplies.
