Where are your community locations?

Via! Services Community Outreach provides Adult Health Education and Recreational programs for six Mobile Housing Board communities including Central Plaza Towers, Emerson Gardens, Frank Boykin Tower, Josephine Allen Homes, Leslie Busby and R.V. Taylor Plaza.

Who is eligible to receive help with food or a utility bill?

Older adults fifty five (55) and up who demonstrate an urgent need for either food or help with a utility bill are eligible for assistance. Both require an assessment and completion of EF&S application through Via! Services Outreach office.

Assistance with utilities:

Individuals requesting help with their utility bill (gas, electric, water and sewer) must exhaust all other resources and are limited to one month’s cost in a 12 month period per family. Additionally, assistance must guarantee additional 30-day service.

Copy of past-due bill and metered utility verification form, as well as proof of income, are required for any assistance with utilities.

Assistance with food:

Older adults fifty five (55) and up who demonstrate an urgent need for food and have not received food from us within a 4 month period are eligible for food.

Additionally, only persons 55 and over meeting specific income requirements are eligible for USDA food.

Who is eligible for home care services?

Via! Services Home Care program is available to persons 60 and over who demonstrate a health related need for the service and who lives alone. If admitted to the program a homemaker will be sent to the client’s home for one hour per week to do light housekeeping.

How can I get my group or organization involved in community outreach?

We are always looking for groups or organizations to volunteer their time to assist with food drives, help older adults with yard work and participate and/or assist with activities at our community sites. Call Joan Rommes at 470-5224 and get involved!

Where can I find reliable health and wellness related materials?

Via! Services has a health and wellness library where your can find information about health related topics such as women’s and men’s health issues, Alzheimer’s, Heart Disease, ect…. You will also find great caregiving information and community resource information at the VIA! Services office.

Who would I contact if I would like to offer my services as a presenter for a health or wellness seminar?

Call Joan Rommes at 470-5224. Presenters may display their particular company’s material at the event but are prohibited from soliciting.
